There are very few animal species associated with this wetland habitat type. The Pied Imperial Pigeon (Ducula bicolor) and Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius) are two notable examples. Both rely on palm fruits for at least a part of their diet; Pied Imperial Pigeons favour palm trees as nesting sites.
