Objectives of the program

The program is associated with Black Ross (Townsville) Water Quality Improvement Plan requirements. Its objectives were to:

  • identify issues and help define the condition of water quality and any trends associated with land use
  • inform catchment and water quality models
  • determine end of catchment loads and assist with target setting.

Brief description of sampling locations

A range of creeks and drains in Black and Ross Basins, including Woolcock St drain (Ross Creek catchment), Captain Creek (Mundy Creek), Kern drain (Bohle River catchment), Gordon Creek, Hill St drain (Bohle River catchment), Stuart Creek, Louisa Creek, Sachs Creek, Bluewater Creek, Alligator Creek, Hencamp Creek, Campus Creek (Ross River), Black River and Ross River (Aplins Weir, Blacks Weir and below the dam)

Frequency of monitoring

During rainfall run-off events during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 wet seasons
