Biological impacts

Direct biota removal and disturbance from a wetland can result in:

  • impacts on target species
  • altered community structure and functioning.

The removal of biota can have a variety of impacts on the ecosystem including:

  • change in the target species size, range and abundance
  • changes in community structure, e.g. food webs, loss of species
  • loss of biodiversity.
