Summary

Building a sediment basin to capture sediment lost from intensive land use in Great Barrier Reef catchment area.

Benefits

The sediment basin captures sediment that would otherwise reach the Great Barrier Reef and allows the landholder to reuse it for agricultural activities.

Lesson

Simple, but effective, design and placement of sediment basins can improve water quality in a catchment.
