EventsWorld Wetlands DayWorld Wetlands Day is celebrated on 2 February each year. It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Since 1997, wetland management and conservation groups use the opportunity to undertake events and actions aimed at raising public awareness about the convention, as well as wetland values and benefits. Information materials to support outreach activities for World Wetlands Day 2025 are available to download from the Ramsar Convention website at www.worldwetlandsday.org. This year’s theme is ‘Protecting wetlands for our common future', with the key words - Value, Protect and Inspire. Protecting wetlands for our common future requires collaboration on policies, regulations and community initiatives for effective conservation and sustainable wise use.
