EventsWorld Wetlands DayWorld Wetlands Day is celebrated on 2 February each year. It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Since 1997, wetland management and conservation groups use the opportunity to undertake events and actions aimed at raising public awareness about the convention, as well as wetland values and benefits. Information materials to support outreach activities for World Wetlands Day 2023 are now available to download from the Ramsar Convention website at www.worldwetlandsday.org. This year’s theme is ‘Wetlands Restoration’ highlighting its urgent need to be prioritised. A campaign toolkit has been developed to facilitate communication and it includes key messages and ideas for how to get involved. Other information materials to download include:

The Australian Government is also preparing an edition of the online Wetlands Australia magazine, which will be available later in February 2023.
