Summary

This project forms part of a broader project to assist flood affected landholders identified through SEQC, Council, Regional industry groups, and River Improvement Trust staff to return to production and improve the natural resilience of the waterways.

The intense and prolonged rainfall event that occurred on top of the Main Range in January 2013 resulted in a massive flow of water through the upper and mid-Warrill Creek catchments.

This project will:
  • stabilise approximately 1.25km of creek bank through battering
  • help protect essential farm infrastructure
  • establish more than 5000 vetiver grass plants to assist in the stabilisation process
  • assist in the continuation of agricultural production and workplace safety to improve water quality in Warrill Creek and increase the resilience of the enterprise to withstand future flood events by rehabilitating the riparian zone through creek bank battering and re-vegetation.
