Summary

This project aims to control weeds, collect rubbish, limit erosion of river banks, create walking tracks and rejuvenate native vegetation on sections of the Thomson River, Longreach.

Benefits

Cleaning up the river banks will:
  • restore the integrity to the landscape and will allow flood waters to flow without being impeded by rubbish or build-up of declared weeds.

Removing the weeds and rubbish will also allow native species to regenerate, providing suitable habitat, improving refuges and niches for native species to reside in through extreme weather events.
