Not to be used for navigation. Not to be used as a definitive location of zone boundaries (refer to Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 for legal descriptions of zone boundaries).

Supplemental information about the data
Zones established in the Marine Park (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 include the general use zone (GUZ), the habitat protection zone (HPZ), the conservation park zone (CPZ) and the marine national park zone (MNP). Features are attributed with zone identification, name/locality of zone, type of zone and area (square kilometres).

Data quality report, measure description
Complete. This dataset contains all zones described in the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024.
Report
Data quality report, measure description
This dataset is a representation of zones established in the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 and is not to be used as a definitive location of zone boundaries. Please refer to Schedule 1 of the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 for legal descriptions of the zone boundaries.

The positional accuracy of the data is consistent with the area of the marine park as described in Schedule 3 of the Marine Parks (Declaration) Regulation 2006. An updated marine park boundary was developed as part of the zoning plan review process and was based on the best available datasets, including the digital cadastral database (DCDB), the Department of Resources (DoR) highest astronomical tide (HAT) dataset, DoR's Designated downstream limits (DDL), DoR's mean high water springs (MHWS) coastline and the best available imagery available under the SISP program.

Zone boundaries were constructed using the above datasets, lines of latitude and longitude as specified in the descriptions in Schedule 1 of the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024 as well as the best available biophysical and social datasets relevant to the Great Sandy area.
Data Lineage
Lineage statement, a general explanation
This dataset has been developed as part of a comprehensive review of the zoning plan for Great Sandy Marine Park (GSMP). It provides a representation of the zones defined by ‘metes and bounds’ descriptions in Schedule 1 of the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024.
The area of the marine park is defined in Schedule 3 of the Marine Parks (Declaration) Regulation 2006. The lineage of the original data developed in 2006 for the establishment of the marine park is unknown. The original extent dataset was compared to current imagery and other relevant datasets and updated as required to create a contemporary dataset representing the area of the marine park. The original zoning data developed in 2006 and shown on statutory plan MP2, was updated to the new marine park area dataset as an initial step.
The zoning plan review assessed the continued need, effectiveness and efficiency of the current zoning plan. An independent Scientific Reference Group was established and developed 15 recommended guiding principles to guide the review process. A benthic habitat map was developed during the review and informed the distribution, extent and boundary locations of many for the initial draft zones.
Proposed changes to these draft zones were digitised using current imagery and a range of spatial datasets collated for the review. The methodology used a process of continual review and refinement to ensure social, economic, cultural and environmental information was considered against the guiding principles. Zone type, name and unique identifier attributes have been added to each feature.
The outcome of the data gathering and analysis was a draft zoning plan, which was released for formal public consultation in September 2022. Information from the submissions received in response to the draft zoning plan was then assessed and considered in the development of the final zoning plan - the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024.
Report
Data quality report, measure description
The dataset is consistent with the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024.
Report
Data quality report, measure description
The attributes have been populated and are verified against the Marine Parks (Great Sandy) Zoning Plan 2024.

Supplemental information about the data
WARNING NOTE TO ALL USERS: The spatial representation of Great Sandy Marine Park is not included in this version of marine parks as administered by Queensland Parks and Wildlife, Department of Environment and Resource Management. It is anticipated that the next version of this dataset shall contain the finalised representation of Great Sandy Marine Park. The rules and restrictions for activities that may be carried out in various marine park zones may differ for the same zone classification in different marine parks. For example, the rules for line fishing in conservation park zones in the Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park vary to the rules for line fishing in conservation park zones in the Moreton Bay Marine Park.
