Summary
This project consists of three interrelated components to assist the recommencement of primary production activities in the Lockyer catchment and build resilience into the system in order to withstand the impacts of future flood events. This project is on a grazing property situated in Upper Blackfellow Creek. The creek feeds into Tenthill Creek, Lockyer Creek, Brisbane River and ultimately Moreton Bay. Several acres of alluvial flats have become of limited production potential due to erosion and cobble deposition along the valley floor.
The project is part of the On-Farm Productivity and Riparian Recovery Program, which is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Government’s Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements. Through the Targeted Recovery and Resilience Projects component, SEQ Catchments is assisting flood-affected landholders in the Fassifern, Lockyer and Upper Brisbane regions, to return to production and improve the natural resilience of the waterways.
