- Description
- Hibbertia monticola is an erect shrub growing up to 1.5 m tall. The leaves are petiolate and exstipulate. The leaf blades are elliptic to obovate, 1.5 to 5 cm long and 2.5 to 12 mm wide. The leaf apex is obtuse, the base is narrowed to the petiole and the margin is recurved. There are thin, white loosely intertwined hairs along the midrib above and glabrous below. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils and sessile. The sepals are 7 to 8 mm long, apiculate and conspicuously white ciliate along the margins. The petals are yellow, 6 to 12 mm long. The stamens are numerous, surrounding the carpels. There are 3 glabrous carpels (Stanley, 1984).
Hibbertia monticola is related to the H. linearis - H. obtusifolia group but it is easily separated by the white ciliate margins of the sepals (Stanley, 1984). - Distribution
- Hibbertia monticola is known from Carnarvon National Park; north of Brigooda (not conserved); Mount Mistake (just outside of Mount Mistake National Park); and Mount Barney National Park (Queensland Herbarium, 2012).

- Habitat
- Hibbertia monticola is usually found in rock crevices or on rocky slopes. Associated species include: Angophora leiocarpa, Eucalyptus phaeotricha woodland with a mid-dense shrub layer (Stanley, 1984; Queensland Herbarium, 2012).
